Emergency rations for flood victims
The flood of the century in Kerala in 2018 affected 22 million people, many of whom lost all of their possessions. With generous contributions from Europe, our 20-strong team was able to provide over 2,000 people with basic necessities who would otherwise have received hardly any of the many international relief supplies. Ajith at the wheel, Nithin in the distribution centre, Bijil with Rohin on the road and Gokul with his entourage made this project fly.
Through joint endeavour: Basic food secured for hundreds
2800 Swiss francs or 220,000 Indian rupees have been exchanged for basic foodstuffs and delivered as of today. That's the equivalent of more than 415 family relief parcels provided by you alone through paropakaram, and all in just a few days! We were able to provide over 2000 people with staple food for a whole week.
What remains...
Landslides have killed hundreds of people in Idukki and swept away countless houses. There was not much we could do to help these people - so we gave them a voice. Bijil accompanied those affected for a month, providing a heartfelt yet sombre insight into what was left behind after the flood.
